The Humble Rice

Tired of eating the same -old- same- old rice every day? Here are some easy ways to make the humble rice a little exotic!

( Adds a little zing if you have sudden guests or just want to make your meal interesting without complications)

Each one is an independent suggestion

- Add cinnamon sticks when you boil rice ( 2-3 two inch sticks for a small cup of rice) for a discreet aroma- goes well with all cuisine
- Add Maggi chicken cubes and laung ( cloves), elaichi (cardamom), dalchini (cinnamon) when you put it to boil for a faux pulao flavour
- Peel 2 onions and put them in the rice while boiling
- Tej patta (Bay leaf), laung (cloves), cardamom  and cinnamon for a Indian aroma
- Add fresh basil leaves to rice when it's almost cooked for a gentle Thai flavour ( goes well with Chinese food too). Make sure the leaves are fresh, otherwise it smells rotten!

Bon Appetit!
